Text messaging results speak for themselves…

A few weeks ago, I had opportunity to organize a few friends to help set up for an event. We expected to have 200-250 people in attendance. The setup was straightforward and needed the help of five or six people. I logged into our text messaging portal, selected the names of forty-four people, crafted the message and off it went. Almost immediately, the first response came in, and over the next several hours, seventeen responses - a 38.6% response rate!

The message sent was personalized. Each person was addressed by his or her first name. When they responded, their messaged was to returned only to me - not to the entire group. In turn, I was able to respond individually to that person to answer questions and to provide more detail about the event. Every person had the same experience - the text was sent en masse, but all subsequent text conversations were one-to-one and private from the group, between me and the individual. A highly personalized experience, very efficient and effective. Needless to say, setup for the event was easily accomplished.

Mass text messages have their appropriate time and place. The example above was in a non-profit setting. It cost very little and was put together quickly and easily. Just the thing for many non-profits and religious organizations.

Although this example is very small in scale, mass text messaging can be a useful tool for companies that have perishable product, excess capacity or time sensitive information.
